About Us

Early in 2003, the Pahrump Springs Chapter, NSDAR, organizational meetings began with the able assistance of five members of the Valley of Fire Chapter NSDAR of Las Vegas, Nevada. One by one members were confirmed; and by December 6, 2003, the chapter was officially chartered with an organizing membership of fourteen. The chapter has been fortunate to have several Nevada state regents attend its meetings including: Rosalie O'Grady, Dixie Lee Judge, Joan Dimmitt, Karen Lampus, and Rebecca Eisenman. The chapter encourages visitors at their meetings on the second Wednesday of each month. The primary chapter fundraiser is the annual spring garage sale.

The chapter supports the DAR commitment to education in several ways. The Pahrump Children's Library has been the recipient of several hundred books over the years to supplement their summer reading program. Pahrump Valley High School's "Students in Need Program" accepts food, clothing, and toiletries monthly from chapter members. A Pahrump Valley High School JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) senior is awarded a bronze medal and certificate for excellence in leadership. The chapter has a circulating library for DAR members, realizing that learning is a lifelong process.

Historic preservation means so many things to our membership. The Old Spanish Trail Association, the Tonopah Mining Museum, and the Pahrump Museum are among a few organizations that receive donations. Our activities include so much more so that not only buildings and trails are preserved, but also documents through our indexing and digitizing program.

There are many ways to show our patriotism. Pahrump Springs Chapter, NSDAR, chooses to support our veterans. Without them, we wouldn't be able to enjoy our freedom.
